E. Norriton, PA, May 15, 2019.
TGaS® Advisors, a division of Trinity, is launching a Medical Affairs practice to provide life sciences companies with benchmarking, advisory and membership services designed to support evidence-based decision-making in this critical area. Christopher A. Welsh, PharmD, MBA, leads the new practice.
The new practice will focus on five key areas, including Medical Affairs leadership and management; strategic planning, lifecycle management and launch execution; scientific and medical communications; external engagement with medical science liaisons (MSL), field teams, key opinion leaders (KOLs), professional and patient organizations, continuing medical education (CME), and grants and investigator-sponsored trials; and internal stakeholder support for marketing, sales, market access, health economics & outcomes research (HEOR) and clinical areas.
Welsh brings to the new position his extensive experience in a variety of Medical Affairs leadership and functional roles in both small and large organizations. Before coming to TGaS, he was the head of Medical Affairs at Lipocine, where he built this function for an emerging company commercializing its first product. He previously led Medical Affairs activities for Orexo in support of that company’s first commercial launch. Welsh spent the first eight years of his career at Shire where he held a variety of Global Medical Affairs roles supporting multiple therapeutic areas. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and his MBA from Villanova University.
TGaS President Gary McWalters said, “We are fortunate to have Chris Welsh’s depth of experience and expertise to build this new practice. It is valuable for all our biopharma clients, but particularly our emerging network members as they construct a professional and commercial infrastructure.”
