2025 Annual State of Learning & Development in Life Sciences: Part II

Briefs

Everyone in the life sciences industry knows that simply building an innovative product is not enough to ensure business success. Launching new products and penetrating the market are key, and commercial learning and development (commercial L&D), responsible for designing and delivering learning experiences that prepare the commercial organization to sell, is an essential part of that process. However, the best method for commercial L&D to support launches is not always clear. Critical questions persist:

  • How much funding is required and where should it come from, and how does commercial L&D secure such funding?
  • How do you manage roles and responsibilities to conduct launch activities?
  • What practices—whether they are related to data or piloting new tools and techniques or deciding how to customize content around specific roles—are correlated with success?

The 2025 Annual State of L&D in Life Sciences: Driving Launch Excellence seeks to answer these pressing questions. This is the second part of a three-part series in empowering the data-driven commercial L&D leader, with a focus on launch excellence. The study features survey responses from 38 heads of commercial L&D from 33 unique organizations. Organizations that had more than one response had more than one commercial L&D function.
