The Evolving Role of AMCP Dossiers in U.S. Payer Decision Making

Briefs

The AMCP (Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy) Format 5.0 for Formulary Submissions is the industry standard for presenting evidence to U.S. healthcare decision-makers to support formulary reviews. Manufacturers are not permitted to proactively provide AMCP dossiers to formulary decision makers, but may share them reactively by subscribing to a central dossier platform, or responding to requests.

While the AMCP framework provides a structure for manufacturers to systematically compile clinical, economic, and humanistic evidence, questions persist about the breadth of influence of AMCP dossiers on payer decisions.

To address this uncertainty, Trinity conducted a survey amongst U.S. payers to uncover the real-world utility of AMCP dossiers in formulary decision-making and to explore payer aspirations for dossier content. Our research examined how payers integrate the content of these dossiers and other third-party economic assessments into their evaluation process and contracting discussions.

This advisory brief provides critical insights to help life sciences manufacturers optimize their payer engagement strategies and and strengthen dossier development that truly resonates with decision-makers.
