Trinity is a high growth, highly acquisitive, Private Equity backed Company. The Technical Accounting Manager is a new position because of Trinity’s growth and will be a key member of Trinity’s Finance team. This role will report to the VP of Finance and partner very closely with the Director of Finance and the Finance team. This member will serve a critical role as a subject matter expert for revenue recognition, business combinations, lease accounting and other complex accounting areas as needed at Trinity. Main responsibilities include collaborating with Trinity’s team to determine appropriate accounting treatment for certain transactions, researching applicable accounting guidance, and presenting findings and accounting updates to the global business. The position will have significant interaction with the Finance team and is highly visible to Corporate Finance senior leadership (including the CFO).

This Hybrid office-based position is ideally located in greater Boston; can also be Remote, within the U.S. EST time zone.

Position Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the proper research and application of U.S. GAAP to Trinity’s financial statements.
  • Research technical accounting updates and disseminate the impact of new accounting standards to the Finance team.
  • Responsible for adopting proper revenue recognition policies and overseeing the monthly revenue close through review and analysis. Working closely with the revenue accountants to accurately calculate revenue each month.
  • Responsible for all acquisition related accounting to include Net Working Capital review, cash basis to GAAP accounting conversions, preparing closing and opening balance sheets.
  • Responsible for specialized accounting such as implementing ASC 842 Lease Accounting, equity compensation, preferred stock dividends, interest rate hedges and anything new that Trinity requires.
  • Significant contributor to the annual audit for all technical accounting areas to include financial statement schedules and disclosures.
  • Provides technical advice and training to the Finance team.
  • Document and implement proper internal controls in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  • Develop internal accounting policy trainings and lead presentations to ensure the business is informed.
  • Assist with journal entries on complex transactions.

Position Requirements

  • 6+ years working in a Big 4 or National Public Accounting Firm in either Audit or Transaction Services
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience working with Private Equity owned businesses is preferable, with exposure to M&A
  • Prior experience in technical accounting preferred, specifically related to ASC 606 and 842
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting topics effectively with different audiences throughout the business
