We are looking for an experienced leader to join our Insights & Analytics team as an Associate Director, Data Science RWE to manage our growing Analytics function within our Real-World Evidence (RWE) team. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing a team of statisticians/data scientists and liaising with senior levels of management to support our client needs. The Associate Director is also responsible for effectively communicating cross-functionally with all project team members and explaining complex methods/results to non-technical audiences (internal teams and clients). The position requires an entrepreneurial spirit, as he/she will guide the development of innovative analytical offerings and champion the use of advanced analytics throughout the company.


Position Responsibilities


o   Set the direction and tone for the RWE Data Science team

  • Nurture an environment where the mindset is beyond the tasks at hand, with a focus on balancing standardization and team growth
  • Motivate individuals to take an active role in creating the project experience they want, and align those goals with client needs

o   Collaborate with other RWE functions (Client Engagement and Data Solutions) to deliver on projects and improve operational efficiency

o   Work with RWE leadership team to identify services that can be automated, productized, and to develop internal standard solutions to deliver these offerings

o   Advocate on behalf of the RWE Data Science team for the continued development and use of advanced analytics

o   Manage the professional development of junior staff, including project staffing and ongoing coaching


o   Oversee standardization efforts that improve project efficiency and training efforts that enhance staff skillsets

o   Advise on client projects by driving the design of the appropriate study, balancing the use of different analytical approaches, including machine learning

o   Support Data Science team members on projects by coaching and quality checking their work

o   Synthesize analytical results and frame the interpretation in terms of the client’s context and need

o   Ownership of quality control and best practices for team to adhere to


o   Explain complex methods in a clear, articulate manner to non-technical audiences, both internal and external

o   Provide direction to Data Science team members and as needed, broadly across the cross-functional RWE team

Business Development

o   Translate the client’s business problem into an addressable research question and collaborate on client project proposals, owning the analytical approach formulation and description

o   Pitch projects in partnership with Trinity team members in functions outside of RWE (Strategic Advisory, HEOR, Commercial Analytics, etc.)  


o   Partner with internal stakeholders to define priority RWE use cases for products and identify opportunities for new offerings and capabilities

o   Lead and design technical specifications of RWE products

o   Work with software development team to implement RWE data solutions

o   Provide management oversight and strategic leadership of product development process (e.g. standardization of development/testing process, system and tools, governance etc.) 

Position Requirements

Education: MS/MPH or MD/PhD in health services research, epidemiology, pharmacological sciences, statistics, Data Science or other related fields


Work Experience: 8-10 years of professional experience in analyzing healthcare administrative claims data (e.g., CMS, MarketScan, Komodo, Forian, IQVIA, Symphony) or other healthcare datasets. Experience with life sciences real-world data to drive insights for our pharmaceutical and medical device client’s key business questions is a must.

  • A positive attitude, solid work ethic, and intellectual curiosity
  • Extensive experience with MS Office Suite (Excel & PowerPoint) and statistical software packages (Python, R, etc.)
  • Excellent communication in English (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Able to successfully lead through uncertainty and comfortable navigating through ambiguity when necessary
  • Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in helping develop and grow our RWE group
